Just launched on the 1st February 2022, a new campaign from the Office of Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to encourage parents to get their children vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR).
The campaign aims to boost parents’ confidence that getting their children vaccinated is the right thing to do, by dialling up the risk of measles, mumps and rubella. The campaign’s call-to-action tells parents and carers whose children have missed one of their two MMR doses to contact their GPs and book their vaccine. As a secondary call-to-action, parents and carers who want more information about the vaccine programme are directed to the MMR vaccines page on the NHS website.
Partners in the NHS and local government are now welcome to support the campaign, using a suite of custom assets to help us communicate these important messages to our target audiences. Partners can also support the campaign through social media and other owned channels, and by generating local press and PR. To help partners activate the campaign, they have also produced a selection of social media images and suggested posts and a PR and communications toolkit.
Visit the Campaign Resource Centre to download the materials and find out more about how you can get involved.
Lifebuoy’s ‘Soaper Heroes UK’ primary PSHE education lesson plans have been awarded the PSHE Association Quality Mark.
The lessons will help KS1&2 pupils to explore how handwashing protects themselves and others. The accompanying teacher guidance contains relevant statistics on personal health and hygiene and advice on how to link the resources to wider school policies on safeguarding and attendance.
There are two lessons in total — one for KS1 and another for KS2 — both teaching pupils how to wash and sanitise their hands effectively, and encouraging them to reflect on hand hygiene as personal and social responsibility.
Pupils learn:
- Why hand hygiene is important to prevent the spread of germs
- How to ensure handwashing and sanitising is effective
- How hand hygiene links to responsibilities to help keep ourselves and others healthy
