Training Overview:

If we adjust our diet and the food provision we offer others, we can support the environment without compromising our health or nutritional needs. This training session aims to highlight how to eat well and provides tips about the small changes we can make. This training includes key public health messages for the general population, including staff and volunteers looking to:

  • Improve food provision for children, young people and families.
  • Develop and run community or education clubs or projects involving food provision.
  • Increase knowledge about healthy eating principles and practical application.

Whilst this training does not explicitly cover food standards that target education settings, it will provide a good grounding of what a healthy, affordable, sustainable meal and snack look like and, therefore, can be taken forward and applied to menu planning.

Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:

  • Increase knowledge and understanding of the UK’s national evidence-based healthy eating model that also promotes a more sustainable lifestyle.
  • Raise awareness of daily routines to meet nutritional needs and develop healthy habits.
  • Increase confidence in reviewing and adapting food provision throughout the day to support health and nutrition while minimising environmental impact and cost.
  • Signpost to online information to use after the training session, including some in-house supportive resources.
