Training Overview:

Our free Change4Life service is available in Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster to support children, young people, and families most at risk of poor health outcomes to eat well and keep active.

This training session aims to support health and care practitioners working with families and parents of children aged 5 years and older, to increase confidence in facilitating conversations around a health concern derived from weight status, and to become familiar with the local support available.

Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:

  • Increase understanding of Health Promotion and a Public Health approach to healthy weight, the complexity of obesity, and the impact of Weight Stigma
  • Identify children who may be at risk or affected by obesity
  • Understand how culture contributes to shaping behaviour and our perception of healthy weight
  • Know the appropriate language to use when engaged in conversations and who to refer to for support (where applicable)
  • Increase confidence in facilitating supportive and non-stigmatising conversations with parents and carers around a health concern derived from weight status
  • Increase awareness of the local Child Healthy Weight Care Pathway: build motivation and confidence in knowing how to use it to access Change4Life services and other partners
