Training Overview:
The free Change4Life service is available in Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster to support children, young people, and families most at risk of poor health outcomes to eat well and keep active.
This training session aims to support staff working with families and parents, to stamp out weight stigma. This training is suitable for staff who are involved in promoting good health and wellbeing within their role and includes staff from different settings such health visitors, health and care practitioners, school nurses, GPs, dietitians, lifestyle and wellbeing workers and anybody else who may be involved in providing or referring families for support around health and wellbeing.
Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:
- Increase knowledge of Weight Stigma linked to obesity: why, how and where it exists
- Increase understanding of the impact of weight stigma on weight, health and wellbeing
- Increase skill of recognising communication that reinforces weight stigma
- Increase confidence in adjusting communication to stamp out weight stigma through practical application
- Feel more equipped with increased knowledge, skills and confidence and useful resources to work towards stamping out weight stigma
