Audience / For: Early Years Practitioners or staff in Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster involved in food and drink provision for children aged under 5 years: including Healthy Early Years leads, childminders, children centre, nursery and pre-school staff, and any other staff involved in planning menus and food provision to support young children to eat well and develop healthy habits.

Training Overview:
The Change4Life service is available in Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster to support children, young people and families most at risk of poor health outcomes to eat well and keep active.
This training session aims to support practitioners and staff involved in menu planning and food service to meet the voluntary Food and Drink Standards: Eat Better Start Better (for ages 1-4 years). Meeting the Eat Better Start Better guidelines is essential for achieving the Healthy Early Years London Bronze award.
Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:
- Understand how the Eat Better Start Better framework supports the provision of a healthy, balanced, nutritious diet required for childhood development and the prevention of obesity.
- Practice reviewing and adapting food provision across the day to ensure snacks and meals are nutritious and balanced; and are supportive of healthy habits.
- Explore how to promote and embed a supportive food culture through the discussion of key themes.
- Identify when and how to adapt provision to ensure all children are supported through careful planning and good communication.
- Be aware of useful resources and further support available.
