Recipe Review Workshop: Getting the balance right – supporting health, budget and sustainability

Audience / For: Staff and volunteers working in Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster, supporting children, young people and families with improving eating habits by following evidence-based guidance. This includes early years practitioners, childminders, health care practitioners, family navigators, healthy lifestyle practitioners, those working in education settings, those working in community settings, and any other staff involved in supporting children and families to eat well and develop healthy habits.

Time:  9.30am – 11.30am

Venue: Bessborough Family Hub, 1 Bessborough Street. SW1V 2JD.

Training Overview:

The Change4Life service in Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster supports children, young people and families most at risk of poor health outcomes to eat well and keep active.

The training is free of charge. This training session aims to support staff and volunteers to increase skill in critically reviewing the balance of meals, using a simple checklist guide, and increase confidence in adapting recipes to support health, budget and sustainability. Recipes reviewed will be taken from a range of different cultural and dietary preferences.

Participants booking this session should consider booking our Eatwell Guide – cultural application workshop, which provides background information around our evidence-based guide and its application to different cultural foods and dietary preferences.

Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:

  • To increase skills in critically reviewing the balance of recipes using a simple checklist
  • To increase confidence in making small changes to recipes that support health, budget and sustainability
  • To increase confidence in understanding where cultural foods fit within the adapted Eatwell Guides.
  • To highlight further strategies to support families further in being equipped and empowered to have a healthier diet
  • To increase awareness of further resources and support available from the Change4Life Service to support you in your role.
