Training Overview:
The Change4Life service is available in Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster to support children, young people and families most at risk of poor health outcomes to eat well and keep active.
Weaning can be difficult to navigate for parents and carers; many feel overwhelmed and uncertain about the best way to introduce their baby to foods safely. This session aims to support practitioners working in early years settings to provide families with evidence-based information about complementary feeding for young children. It aims to support practitioners in introducing actions that promote best practices, key messages and raise awareness of the local health services available to support families.
It will include interactive activities to help reinforce guidelines and recommendations to ensure all staff feel confident when supporting parents and careers during a baby’s first year.
Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:
After this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Correctly identify when a baby is ready to be introduced to solid foods.
- Provide meals that sufficiently meet a growing child’s nutritional needs.
- Provide foods that are hygienically prepared, stored, and safe for consumption.
- Correctly identify the signals of appetite and satiety in young children.
