Training Overview:

Since September 2020 schools must have regard to the new statutory guidance for teaching about drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

The topic is part of the wider health education curriculum and seeks to enable pupils to make well-informed decisions through a knowledge-based approach.

This training aims to build knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver a Drugs, alcohol and tobacco curriculum that meets the need of your pupils.

Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:

  • To consider good practice in Drugs, alcohol and tobacco education
  • To review the national position, including guidance, in line with statutory requirements
  • To signpost available resources and consider how to adapt to meet pupil needs
  • To identify how data can be used to challenge harmful myths and promote positive norms
  • To plan partnerships with parents and carers and external agencies
