Training Overview:
The DfE guidance on statutory Relationships, Sex and Health Education includes the following reference to expectations around assessment;
‘Schools should have the same high expectations of the quality of pupils’ work in these subjects as for other curriculum areas. A strong curriculum will build on the knowledge pupils have previously acquired, including in other subjects, with regular feedback provided on pupil progress…Teaching should be assessed and assessments used to identify where pupils need extra support or intervention’.
This training will support schools to meet these expectations.
Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:
- To consider how assessment contributes to effective PSHE
- To review the national position, including guidance, in line with statutory requirements
- To explore different types and models of assessment for use within PSHE
- To identify practical PSHE activities that lend themselves to assessment and ways to build these into planning, teaching and learning
- To consider the recording, evidencing and reporting of outcomes
