Audience / For:Â School Staff: including healthy school leaders, catering staff and any other staff working within schools involved in menu planning, development, auditing, and responsibility for meeting the statutory school food standards.

Training Overview:
The training is available to Barnet, Barking and Dagenham, Westminster, and Kensington and Chelsea, to support schools meeting the statutory School Food Standards. The training is free of charge. This training session aims to support staff involved in menu planning, development, and auditing. This can include healthy schools’ leaders, teachers, and catering staff within schools.
Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:
- Be familiar with the standards and rationale behind the criteria
- Understand how the school food standards aim to take a holistic whole school approach to support the provision of a nutritious, balanced diet required for childhood development and he prevention of obesity
- Have confidence using the standards, when liaising with school caterers to negotiate catering contracts, and to tailor menus to school and pupil preferences
- Practice reviewing and adapting menus across the day, including breakfast and after school clubs, to meet the needs of the standards and to promote improved practice
- Be aware of useful local and national resources and further local support available
