Training Overview:
Over the past few decades there has been an increase in children and young people (CYP) experiencing mental health difficulties in both primary and secondary schools. The ongoing impact of Covid-19 has also highlighted the importance of protecting and promoting the emotional health and wellbeing (EHWB) of the whole school community. This training centres around an evidence-based model to help protect and promote the emotional health and wellbeing of the whole school community.
Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:
- Explore the concepts of emotional wellbeing and mental health, and have a clearer understanding of what contributes to these
- Introduce the eight principles of a whole school approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health and identify areas for future development
- Reflect upon how children with emotional/mental health difficulties are identified and supported
- Consider practical strategies to prioritise and improve staff wellbeing
Links to Healthy Schools London Awards:
EHWB is one of four core themes within the HSL Bronze Award, interwoven across all sections of the audit. EHWB can also be the development focus of the Silver – Gold Awards.
