Training Overview:
Misogyny is the dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women. We can see misogynistic behaviours being displayed by children from a young age, and whether these are learnt behaviours from home or online, schools can challenge these attitudes through a planned Primary PSHE curriculum. By challenging this behaviour we can help to end violence against women and girls, which is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide, according to the World Health Organisation. The new DfE Statutory Guidance on Relationships, Sex and Health Education (2025) supports a strengthened approach to addressing violence against women and girls (VAWG) through the curriculum.
Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:
This 75 minute online training session will cover the following:
- Defining misogyny, root causes and how behaviours and attitudes can escalate
- How misogynistic behaviours display themselves at primary age
- How we can challenge these behaviours through a planned spiral PSHE education curriculum
- Looking at next steps to taking a whole school approach
Links to Healthy Schools London Bronze Award:
To achieve the Bronze award schools must evidence that they are delivering PSHE and EWMH in the curriculum and meeting the statutory guidance from the DfE.
