Training Overview:
Relationships and Health Education became statutory for all primary schools from September 2020 with the Dfe recommending that primary schools have a programme of sex education tailored to the age and the physical and emotional maturity of the pupils. This two-part training will support schools to ensure that they are fulfilling the statutory requirements and meeting pupil needs. Training will build PSHE leads’ confidence to plan, deliver and assess good quality RSHE, to support colleagues and consult with parents.
Impact on your Knowledge, Skills and Confidence:
- Consider what constitutes good practice in Relationships Health and Sex education (RSHE).
- Understand the latest guidance
- Explore a range of resources and tools to support your planning, delivery and assessment of RSHE
- Share experience and skills between peers
- Address concerns, barriers and common issues arising for schools
Links to Healthy Schools London:
To achieve the Healthy Schools Bronze award schools must evidence that they are delivering PSHE Education in the curriculum and meeting the statutory guidance from the DfE. Schools should have a lead for PSHE, up to date policy and a planned curriculum with assessment, recording and reporting opportunities. The Bronze award asks for examples of staff CPD linked to promoting emotional and physical and wellbeing.
